Abstract
The present paper discusses the project of the X-band coherent spaceborne remote sensing sidelooking radar (SLR) that operates with a 2×700 km swath and 1.5 to 2.5 km spatial resolution. This system is distinguished by its wide swath coverage and strip-mode operation. The strip image mode is ensured by low radar power consumption and the onboard signal processing. It is basically for this reason that the whole system can be highly efficient in solving numerous practical problems. The radar in question is designed to be installed on a platform following its orbit at 600 to 850 km and inclined at 80 to 100 degrees
