Abstract
An experimental ARQ scheme is proposed that is based on the philosophy of utilizing the redundant information existing in real data for error correcting. Expert system ideas are introduced into the error-control system. The throughput efficiency and the time delay of the proposed scheme are analyzed. Numerical results are provided for typical satellite communications cases. It is found that the proposed scheme can be used as long as the predefined dictionary is available in both communication nodes.<>
