Abstract :
It is found that many studies of twisted-pair phone line natural parameter testing make use of instrument to test four primary electrical parameters(RLGC), and then make the RLGC modeling or “ABCD” modeling to achieve secondary parameters(characteristic impedance, transmission coefficient). This paper exploits a novel method which uses common instrument such as a selective level meter, a level oscillator, an inductance capacitance meter and a multimeter. It employs insertion loss to estimate R and G. The obtained result indicates the mathematic modeling is well in agreement with the testing data.
