Abstract :
An approach to increasing the bandwidth of microstrip antennas by using the simplified real frequency technique is proposed. The most significant feature of the numerical technique is that it can work with either measured or simulated impedance data of a microstrip radiating element and generator. It does not require any analytical description of the antennas. Neither a prior choice of a matching network topology nor an analytic form of the system transfer function is needed. Two representative examples with different bandwidths show the validity of the design procedure.<>
