  • Abstract
The energy consumption which has rapidly grown in the twentieth century is now causing global environmental issues. The situation is so serious that human beings may not be able to live without overcoming these issues. Power electronics technology is one of the most important key technology to solve them. The contribution of power electronics to the subject is discussed with reference to electrical energy, wide band-gap semiconductor devices, power transmission/distribution and energy saving
