  • Abstract
A method of successive images is presented. The basic idea is based on the availability of the exact solution for an impressed tangential electric current near a prefect electric conductor (PEC) surface, i.e., its image. Therefore, if any incident field could be expressed via its equivalent incident current over a surface adjacent to the scatterer, the solution would be straightforward. The method of successive images successively deducts portions of the equivalent magnetic current and transforms them into terms of the unknown equivalent electric current. Each one of these terms represents a portion of the magnetic field contribution and they add up to give this contribution. The summation of these physical entities converges quite rapidly. At the end of this process, the complete equivalent electric current is obtained, yielding the image solution. The robustness of the method, insensitivity to geometry, and efficiency are demonstrated.<>
