Abstract :
Non-invasive physiological measurement covers conventional methods of indirect and derived measurement. The definition should also include minimally invasive methods which are becoming increasingly important as meter technology allows patients to collect their own data for clinical use. Across the range, non-invasive methods add noise to the interpretation process. The rise of home data collection means that patient behaviour must be considered as well as the more usual equipment factors. Advanced time series analysis is introduced as a tool for studying patterns in data collection and filtering the noise from underlying signals. Examples are given from diabetes and surgery
