  • Abstract
    A novel elastooptic stress multiplier is proposed and demonstrated in experiment that consists of two optical fiber polarizers and two cascaded high-birefringence polarization maintaining fibers. The stress multiplier can perform multiplying operation of two external forces or stresses applied to the two fibers, and can be also used as a voltage multiplier by combining with two piezoelectric transducers.
