Abstract
Summary form only given. The radar equation and the signal design for the electromagnetic missile (EMM) were obtained based on the characteristics of the EMM. A range-velocity resolution function or Woodward´s ambiguity function was obtained analytically. It was shown that the radar equation, the signal design, and the range-velocity resolution function are different from those for ordinary radar. A suitable radar signal for the EMM is pulse-position coding, which is different from the ordinary radar signal. The range resolution is about several centimeters for the EMM. The range-velocity function approaches the ideal thumbtack function.<>
