Abstract
Reflector antennas with cluster of feeds are the most commonly used system in satellite communications. The authors present an alternative method for synthesizing the cluster (the amplitude and phase distribution plus the location of the horns) from the knowledge of fields in the focal regions of the reflector, corresponding to the desired contoured beam. The design method presented has proved to be very efficient and considerably simplifies feed cluster synthesis. It can be applied to any form of reflector and any kind of horn. Horn size can also be optimized during the process.<>
