Abstract
A knowledge based monitoring system for glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy is described, which is designed for the working place of a private ophthalmologist. The monitor detects critical situations in the patient´s status by means of a modular decision process, which consists of several fuzzy rule sets and hierarchical neural net classifiers for perimetry and an interactive image processing part for fundus images. Output is a message to the user connecting the local system with a web based information system for further recommendations
