Abstract :
In the present work our goal was to study the velocity of the corona plasma expansion at the explosion of Al and W wire at a rising current density up to 1·108 ÷ 1.4·108 A/cm2. The wire explosion occurred in two regimes: with and without pre-heating of the wire. It is shown that in the regime without pre-heating the expansion velocity of the corona plasma is determined by the expansion rate of the absorbed gas, while in the pre-heating regime it is related to the expansion rate of metal vapors.
