Abstract
Designing in a network environment is the most effective way to obtain the best results, but this design method is often difficult to organize when taking into account the network management problems imposed by the CAD environment used. This paper presents a new solution for implementing a network methodology for working with OrCAD in a multi-layer design team. The proposed methodology solves the following design problems: installation and management of OrCAD products on a network; merging PC boards using GerbTool v6.2b.1; migrating a printed circuit board with a split plane from OrCAD Layout(R) v7.00 for Windows to Layout v7.10; adding a new layer to a network Layout PCB design; solving Gerber viewer problems with Layout v6.421 Gerber files; moving designs and design information between Capture v6.10 and Layout v6.30 in a distributed OrCAD network; and moving an SDT 386+ or Capture design into Layout between OrCAD design stations
