Abstract
An IEEE 802.11 (Wi-Fi) based inexpensive serial wireless network can be used to establish a robust and secure communication between the locomotive driver and the traveling public on the Indian railway system. This will help create a reliable emergency communication tool to supplement the problematic pneumatic alarm chain system in use currently.
