Abstract :
Currently there is great debate in standards groups regarding the choice of protocol to support real-time electronic communications applications such as Pre-Order in the local services arena between ILECs and CLECs. At the same time, service providers are pursuing interface negotiations often resulting in pair-wise unique solutions using proprietary communications mechanisms. This paper discusses why AT&T feels that CORBA (Common Object Request Broker Architecture) provides the most promising opportunity to arrive at industry consensus. This paper will also report on the status and results of experiments and implementations underway among service and network providers
