Abstract
The last decade has witnessed the evolution of mobile telephony from 2G to 3G. This huge technological leap has been accompanied by an equally increasing number of mobile users and heterogeneous applications. Videoconferencing, interactive multimedia, and VoIP are a few applications to mention. The requirements of these bandwidth demanding applications are different from those of the analogous wired Internet applications. Hence the existing protocol stack is not a robust solution to the needs of the current and future wireless Internet. In this paper the author explores the existing scenario of wireless Internet and proposed changes to the existing protocol stack so as to make it adaptive to the next generation wireless Internet.
