Abstract
Terrain is an important factor in computer combat simulation. After analyzing the disadvantage of ignoring the important factors such as weather, terrain and tactics in the classical Lanchester equation, an improved Lanchester equation considering the factor of terrain of battlefield is proposed, the solution of the equation, the computation of the residual strength of the winner, and the forecast of the battle are given. The impact values of terrain are also analyzed. Finally an example is used to verify the validity of the model. The results showed that the model is feasible, and can be used to judge the losses of force strength more accurately and effectively in combat simulation systems.
