Abstract
The design and evaluation of a promising new type of UVR/IRR coated coverglass, specifically designed for triple junction solar cells, has been undertaken. Simple modelling of the thermal benefits of this coating shows that the cell´s operating temperature can be significantly reduced. This temperature reduction leads to an increase in the solar cell´s overall efficiency. Additionally, AR/IRR and UVR are evaluated and their associated temperature and efficiency gains demonstrated. Further optimisation of the coatings and matching them to specific cell types could realise further gains.
