Abstract
A correlation between the digital signature technology and its law is indubitable, considering that the adoption of the former has in turn, shaped the application of the latter in securing Internet banking transactions. Even though the law has been in existence for more than ten years, the lack of any of its provisions being tested in the Malaysian courts, along with continuous criticisms of the legislation in the literature, have suggested that the digital signature law is barely applied, particularly in the banking industry. Drawn from an ongoing doctoral research, the paper appraises the methodological process of a case-study conducted amongst the commercial banks offering Internet banking services. Also, the paper reveals that at the onset, the study found that this authentication technology was hardly being implemented by the banking industry, which beyond doubt, impinged on a trivial use of the digital signature law.
