Abstract :
The network view provides an abstraction of the underlying network resources, allowing a group of elements to be managed by the Network Management Layer as a subnetwork, and a group of subnetworks to be managed by the Service Management Layer as a Layer Network Domain (LND). This abstraction hides the details of the underlying elements and provides a view of topology and connectivity for the subnetworks and the LND. The network view provides topological/structural information about the LND and subnetworks along with capacity. It also provides a view of the end-to-end connections and the relationships between layered networks. This paper describes the motivation and concepts of the network view model. The network view elements are described along with examples of how the network view applies to the management of fast packet services. Also described are the various uses or applications of the network view model
