Abstract :
The A6 Relativistic Magnetron with Diffraction Output (MDO) with two cathode geometries have been investigated. The cathode radius of the magnetron structure has been decreased to make it operate in π-mode. The radiation from the magnetron is extracted axially by tapering onto a conical antenna only those cavities of the anode that correspond to the symmetry of the radiated modes. CST Electromagnetic finite-difference-time domain Particle-In-Cell (PIC) code has been used to simulate the structure. With an input voltage of 240kV, the magnetic field has been varied to maximize the output RF voltage amplitude.
