Abstract
The paper deals with an electromagnetic and thermal integrated design procedure of a vector controlled induction motor. The procedure is fully analytical and the motor design is carried out to meet a given flux-weakening region of operation. Instead of a cut-and-try method, the proposed procedure allows the motor dimensions to be obtained by solving a nonlinear system of equations in which the required performance, together with the thermal and magnetic limits, are imposed. At last, some comparisons between different induction motor designs are reported, pointing out peculiar differences in motor dimensions and inverter size
