Abstract :
Techniques such as genetic algorithms, simulated annealing and evolutionary programming constitute a discipline often referred to as computational intelligence. During the past decade, a number of computationally difficult problems in optimization have been solved reasonably well by application of these techniques. The authors´ goal in the paper is to present a brief description of these techniques and consider some applications to engineering problems
