Abstract :
This paper prescribes an approach to integrate the ontology in a Knowledge Management System (KMS) in order to allow full potential of e-museum applications on the web to be realized. Ontologies become important part in many online applications in various domains as central controlled vocabularies for meaningful interaction and communication. This work is concerned with the design of the community-based e-museum which is intended to support the digital cultural heritage preservation. To illustrate the approach, this study considers the knowledge management and ontology methodology to shed light on the process of ontology construction. Therefore, the aim of the study is to identify the actual activities involved in the mapping process between Revised Traditional Malay Textile (TMT) Knowledge Model and CIDOC CRM to facilitate in the creation of Batik Heritage Ontology (BHO). This work is performed so as to detain and embody the underlying semantic of Malay Textile information for ease of integration and exchange between communities in e-museum applications.
