Abstract :
The new microwave induced-plasma sintering (MIPS) technique was first introduced to prepare calcium zirconate ceramic (CZC) in the present study. The effect of parameters on the density of CZC in the sintering process and the presintering have been investigated and optimum processing conditions have been obtained. The presintering and sintering were combined into one-step continuous process by adjusting the microwave power and pressure which resulted in controlling the speed of heating. In this way, unfavorable influence caused by rapid heating of MIPS would be avoided, dense CZC having relative density of 99% has been prepared
