Abstract :
This paper describes a novel methodology for development of real-time control design and implementation of switching control law with particular emphasis on laboratory environment. The switching controller is formulated and implemented in real-time, using the position control of a brushless DC motor drive system as a testbed. The design, analysis, and implementation stages are carried out entirely using a dSPACE DS1104 digital signal processor (DSP)-based real-time data acquisition control (DAC) system, and MATLAB/Simulink environment. Experimental results show that the proposed switching controller produces adequate control performance, particularly in handling nonlinearities and external disturbances. The paper also presents a hardware platform used during the implementation stage.
