Abstract :
The progress of Hawaiian Electric Company activities related to renewable energy development in its service areas-the islands of Oahu, Maul and the Big Island of Hawaii is reported. A status update of the installed renewable generating resources in place (i.e., geothermal, biomass, wind, photovoltaic, hydroelectric), demand-side management programs (i.e., solar water heating, heat pumps, etc.), research, development and demonstration projects, and other related renewable energy activities are presented. The mix of electrical generating technologies (including renewable resources) continues to change over time
