Abstract :
This paper introduces the design and analysis of a brushless DC (BLDC) linear motor. When designing a linear motor, it is important to determine its force density. Variation of force density of a BLDC linear motor with the width of coil and permanent magnet is calculated using magnetic circuits and FEM. The analyzed results are compared with experimental values and are reviewed. It is very difficult to find a magnetic circuit for the analysis model, but this circuit is useful when designing linear motors. The force density equation used in the magnetic circuit method is verified by FEM and experiment, and used in designing linear motors
