Abstract
A method for evaluating an application for a high horsepower variable-frequency fan drive is discussed, whose steps include selection of the flow control method, simulation of the fan and system load line, definition of the fan shaft power, component selection, a harmonic and torsional analysis, and an economic evaluation. These steps are illustrated for a pair of 5000 hp blowers at the BASF plant in South Kerney, New Jersey
