Abstract
We address the problem of design of a hybrid ARQ system employing TCM, so as to maximize the throughput for an AWGN channel by improved packet combining and more efficient forward channel usage. It is shown that considerable throughput gains can be achieved in comparison to existing systems at the expense of minor complexity increases of receiver and protocol
