Abstract
To reduce the switching loss of a cascaded H-bridge (CHB) multilevel inverter, a novel switching sequence selecting method is presented. This selection is based on redundant switching states. The switching sequence is generated by a space vector modulation (SVM) which can guaranty proper operation of the CHB even when a fault occurs in the inverter. By using this SVM strategy, the total loss of power cells in one phase is equalized to each other. In this paper, the SVM strategy is described in details and simulated by Matlab/Simulink program. The validity of the presented strategy is verified by simulation results.
