Abstract :
In the current trend of global design, engineering and sourcing, quality assurance of a given component together with prediction of its performance and estimation of life poses an entire set of challenges. In the case of mass produced fractional horsepower motors which are usually manufactured at one location, assembled into a given system at another location and put for operation in yet another location, they are subjected to varying climatic conditions, handling during shipping that affect their life and field performance significantly.
