Abstract :
To reduce the costs and lead time for shipbuilding, an integrated system is proposed to optimize a long term production plan, as well as the node plan and the physical distribution plan. A hierarchical architecture and the object-oriented technology are used to incorporate all critical information such as production capacities. A physical distribution algorithm is developed assuming the material quantities consumed follow normal distribution. A simplified simulated-annealing algorithm is presented to increase the planning optimization speed. The system was tested as feasible and effective in a case study conducted at the Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Co., Ltd. in China.
