Abstract :
This paper presents a channel simulator that generates signal and interference characteristics of each receiver channel in ICS-OAR (open area repeater with interference cancellation system). A concept of ICS-OAR with an array antenna and multi-channel receiver was studied by Joo-Wan Kim and Paulraj (2000). There are many array signal processing techniques for co-channel interference cancellation, but we have a great difficulty when selecting proper algorithms because most algorithms do not consider variations of signal and interference. Actually, variations of the received signal and interference exist. In the case of ICS-OAR, the desired signal comes into the main-lobe of the receiving array antenna, and unwanted interference comes into the side-lobe region. So, we assume that the signal and interference of each receiver channel are, respectively, random variables with mean and variance values considering the mutual coupling effect between the array elements. This channel simulator makes us to be able to choose suitable signal processing algorithms among lots of algorithms and to develop new signal processing techniques suitable for ICS-OAR
