Abstract :
In this paper, an attempt is made to find optimal switching operations for the service restoration and feeder load balancing of the distribution systems using Colored Petri Nets (CPN). When a power distribution system is operating under normal condition, the reconfiguration of feeders for load balancing among distribution feeders is obtained, which improve the operating performance of distribution system. Heuristic rules combined with the artificial intelligent Colored Petri net are applied to find the proper switching operation decision to solve the problem during a contingency. The Colored Petri Net approach performs very efficiently by its parallel like inference characteristics to determine the appropriate switching operations for solving the contingencies of distribution system. 33bus system is tested to demonstrate the effectiveness of this study. The results obtained are comparable to the results available in the literature.
