Abstract :
We have carried out 2D and 3D simulations of a dense plasma focus device using Sandia National Laboratories´ ALEGRA-HEDP code. We model the setup, rundown and pinch phases of the device and obtain predictions of fusion neutron yield as a function of machine parameters. Due to particle effects not modeled the by the code, we expect simulations to predict lower fusion neutron yields than those seen in experiments. We consider options for predicting these nonthermal effects as a function of machine parameters.
