Abstract
Recent changes in the electric utility infrastructure have created opportunities for many technological innovation , including the employment of distributed generation (DG) to achieve a variety of benefits. Proper location of DGs in power systems is important for obtaining their maximum potential benefits . This paper presents a load flow based method to determine the optimal location to place a DG unit in radial systems to improve the voltage profile of the entire system. The algorithm is tested on a 34 bus distribution system to show the applicability of the method. The results show an improvement in voltage profile of the system.
