Abstract :
Wireless Mesh Network (WMN) is a compelling topic to many net work researchers due to its low cost in deployment, simplicity in installation and robustness in operation. However, existing routing protocols designed for MANET, cannot work efficiently in WMN because backbone in WMN formed by Mesh Router has very low mobility and are not put under power and memory constraint. In this paper, we propose a geographic multipath routing protocol for an Infrastructural Wireless Mesh Network that does not rely on location information. The proposed protocol uses Hop-Count metric which is aware of congestion and location of its immediate neighbors. Additionally, with support of congestion-aware mechanism, nodes can choose links which have enough available band width for incoming flow´s requirement. Our proposed routing protocol achieves several outstanding properties of Hop-count metric based routing algorithm: simplicity in routing algorithm, stability and practicability in implementation. Results show that throughput increases greatly with our proposed protocol as compared to pure AODV and AOMDVin high-loaded traffic scenario.
