Abstract :
Using a single weakly tilted fiber Bragg grating in SMF, an optical fiber sensor capable of temperature-independent surrounding refractive index (SRI) was demonstrated. The experiment results showed that the “ghost mode” resonance and resonant Bragg wavelength have same temperature characteristics in the transmission spectrum. However, the width of high-order modes relatived to the wavelength change (Δw) which was immune to temperature could detect SRI range from 1.40 to 1.45 with a good linearity of SRI characteristic and correlative coefficient of 96.378%. These features of tilted Bragg gratings may possess prospects of application in biological and chemical fields..
