Abstract :
A representative method for membrane wrinkling simulation, Minimum Relaxed Energy Density Method, is investigated in its expression and mechanical essence. Numerical example demonstrates that this method is able to give exact information of wrinkles. Using this method, the wrinkling analysis of a typical membrane structure, saddle, is carried out. The wrinkling behavior and it´s affect on the mechanical performance of membrane structures is obtained in detail.
