Abstract :
Using recycled concrete aggregates (RCA) from old cement concrete pavement blocks as stabilizing base in road construction can achieve the purposes of energy conservation, resource conservation, and material recycling. However, due to the impact of old cement mortar, recycled aggregates have diverse performance. The loose mortar can be reprocessed from the recycled aggregates by using indoor abrasion tester, and the performance improvements of RCA can be obtained through comparing the basic characteristics of aggregates and the strength of recycled aggregates stabilized by cements. Standard crushing value test, sub-file aggregate compression crushing test, and mixture compressive strength test show that, when recycled concrete aggregates was processed, its compressive capacity can be significantly improved, water absorption be reduced, and the performance of stable mixture be improved, which can better meet the basic requirements of aggregate and mixture for stabilizing road base and hence provide the experimental research ground for the better use of RCA.
