Abstract
A new approach of FDFD method applied to computation of patch arrays is presented in this paper. Incorporating a concept of field average used to deal with the absorbing boundary condition (ABC), it provides a very useful and practical tool to analyze 3-D electromagnetic scattering problems. This method adopts compressed storage and the least-square method to solve the equations with sparse coefficient matrix, and is proved to be accurate and reliable compared with the reported data
