            Abstract : 
The Finite-Difference-Time-Domain (FDTD) method is used to calculate and simulate propagation of an EM wave in an anisotropic medium. As a demonstration, numerical results for the case of a negative uniaxial crystal are presented. The birefringence and polarization splitting effects are clearly shown and have a good agreement with analytic-graphical ones. It has been shown that the method can be used in analyzing the general propagation problem of an EM wave in an anisotropic medium
