Abstract :
Biological processes in organisms are driven by the genetic code represented by sequences of DNA. Every cell of a multi-cellular organism contains the full genome; however the gene activations differ based on a variety of factors at varying parts of the organism. The genetic code can be seen as an omni-functional code that is primarily function-agnostic, but triggers its relevant and required genes locally to achieve the objectives of the total organism. Such ideas have inspired omni-functional software platforms, as described in this paper. With the extensive capabilities of the browser, it has become possible for platforms that are infinitely extensible, function-agnostic and omni-functional to be made and operated over the internet platform. This paper considers the weaknesses of conventional software architectures, and expands on the possibilities of converting the browser into an intelligent immersive platform. By being compatible with standards, such omni-functionalities can be intermingled with semantic web structures to create powerful models for the next generation of the Internet. The paper builds on the powerful features and potential solutions that are extended by such combinations and draws inspiring parallels between the domain of biological processes and software design.
