Abstract
This paper describes the development of a project which is driven by the need to provide high quality services which small businesses will use. The project is not technology driven even though we have a leading edge capability to deliver high quality video content to large numbers of concurrent users of the services. GEMISIS 2000 is a partnership between Salford City Council, The University of Salford and NYNEX Cablecomms. The aim of GEMISIS 2000 is to develop applications of all kinds (industrial/commercial/educational/health/governmental) which make use of the NYNEX cable network being installed under their franchise in the area. The Virtual Chamber of Commerce is one of a number of projects under the GEMISIS 2000 banner part funded by the European Regional Development Fund
