Abstract :
A new commercially available laser Doppler imager, the moorLDI, based on the `flying´ beam instrument developed by Essex and Byrne in 1990, is described. It has a range of 20 to 100 cm to scan areas of between 5×5 and 50×50 cm2 at 256×256 maximum resolution. The optical arrangement enables use in normal ambient lighting at a maximum speed of 4 msec/pixel. The high resolution enables `photo´ images with anatomical detail to be produced simultaneously. It is suitable for clinical and research applications. Examples of pilot studies of some clinical applications are described
