Abstract :
The economic load dispatch problem with valve-point effects has nonsmooth cost functions with equality and inequality constraints for optimization. It is very difficult to find the global optimum for such kind of problems because of its discontinuous, nonconvex, nonlinear characteristics. An feasibility guided particle swarm optimization algorithm is presented in this paper to solve the economic load dispatch problem. A kind of feasibility repairing mechanism is presented to adjust the infeasible solutions. Moreover, an adaptive mutation scheme is adopted to guide agents reaching global optimum. The proposed algorithm is tested by two cases in comparison with other intelligent searching methods, and thus the superiority is guaranteed.
