Abstract :
This paper deals with the effect of deploying femtocells into conventional networks like UMTS and new systems like LTE. Femtocells are a cost efficient way to extend the coverage and capacity in a house or a flat. However if the number of femtocells exceed the maximum acceptable level the interference makes the whole system unusable. The article characterizes the downlink interferences in both systems. Afterwards we set up a simulation model to demonstrate the effect of interferences and to compare the given two-tier systems and give a limit on the number for femtocells. Furthermore we provide the operation curves of two systems based on simulations.
