Abstract
To develop a distributed real-time application above the ATM layer, one must negotiate the QoS required for that application using ATM traffic and QoS parameters. This paper presents a tool that allows the ATM user to map timing constraints of messages onto CBR and rt-VBR services. The user can create several connections and several sources in the same station or in different stations, each source may be associated with one ATM connection or multiplexed with one or multiple sources over one ATM connection. The tool allows the assessment of some sources in the network and the modification of connection or source input values so that the user can validate different types of traffics and verify whether traffic constraints may be guaranteed or not by ATM under some assumptions
