Abstract :
The Internet is growing rapidly and such growth persists. As common access line speed increases, MPLS (multiprotocol label switching) hardware architecture is required to be developed. To support new multimedia services (voice, image, data) effectively, the development of an open switch control architecture is needed. In order to develop such an open system, switch management functions and standard interface protocols must be provided to an external switch controller. In this paper, we design an open interface protocol, dynamic GSMP V3 (general switch management protocol version 3) and resource management function that performs connection add/delete, resource reservation, adjacency setup, buffer management, and ATM switch resource management. We can increase efficiency of resource transmission of MPLS and ATM service in the ATM link by using the minimum buffer search algorithm. We fabricate the dynamic GSMP V3 using Sam-Sung 0.5 μm SOG process
